World Heritage Site

UNESCO stands for United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. UNESCO assigns the designation to a place as being a world heritage site. They bestow this designation on places that have scientific, cultural, historical, or some other form of significance to the world. Daintree National Park is one of those places.

Daintree Rainforest National Park sits within Daintree Rainforest and it is a World Heritage site. The rainforest itself is said to be around 180 million years old, which makes it the oldest rainforest in the world. It is located on the east coast of Queensland, Australia. It also borders another World Heritage Site, the stunning Great Barrier Reef.
