Want to learn some intriguing facts about the Greek
Islands?
A charming pelican named Petros is the official mascot
for the island of Mykonos. Petros decided to make Mykonos home after being
rescued by a local fisherman. Although Petros is no longer with us, his spirit
lives on in the locals' stories.
The Greek Islands is Europe's most desirable holiday
destination. Why? They enjoy almost 365 days of sunshine each year!
According to local myth, the god of sky and thunder,
Zeus grew up in a cave on the island of Naxos. Coincidentally, Naxos is also
said to be where Theseus abandoned Princess Ariadne of Crete after their
successful attempt to kill the Minotaur.
There thousands of stories to explore in the Greek
