A charming pelican named Petros is the official mascot for the island of Mykonos. Petros decided to make Mykonos home after being rescued by a local fisherman. Although Petros is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the locals' stories.
The Greek Islands is Europe's most desirable holiday destination. Why? They enjoy almost 365 days of sunshine each year!
According to local myth, the god of sky and thunder, Zeus grew up in a cave on the island of Naxos. Coincidentally, Naxos is also said to be where Theseus abandoned Princess Ariadne of Crete after their successful attempt to kill the Minotaur.
