Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen is a must for
anyone with a taste for royal history. Built originally as a home for noblemen,
the place became home to the royal family after a fire burned down the Christiansborg Palace in 1794. Amalienborg is
famous for its Royal Guard, called Den Kongelige Livgarde. Every day at noon,
you can experience the changing of the guards, as they march from their
barracks through the streets of Copenhagen and end up at Amalienborg, where the
changing of the guard takes place.
