Historic Borsen

Built in 1625, Børsen is one of the oldest buildings in Copenhagen. Solidifying the status of the city as a powerhouse for trade and commerce, the stock exchange building had 40 stalls for vendors and was one of the most magnificent architectural structures of its time. The Old Stock Exchange was then surrounded by water from three sides so that ships could unload their cargo directly at the wharf in front. The dragon tail-like spire on top of the building is said to protect the building from fire and enemy attacks, which has proven to be true over the centuries.
