Located on the Bennelong Point, the Sydney Opera House
is truly fascinating. The original construction was estimated to be around $7
million. When finished, the final bill was $102 million, mostly paid by a State
Lottery. Precisely 233 designs were submitted to the Opera House's
international design competition in 1956. Denmark's Jørn Utzon received ₤5000
for his winning design. The construction took 14 years, ten years longer than
expected!
American entertainer Paul Robeson was the first performer at the Sydney Opera House. Approximately 10.9 million people visit the Opera House each year. Did you know that the Opera House is cooled by seawater that is taken directly from the Sydney Harbour?
Let's work together to plan your next adventure to visit the Sydney Harbor. I'd love to help! Give me a call or send an email when you're ready to start planning!
