Durnstein

Durnstein is a small town in the Krems-land district, located on the Danube River in Austria. The name Durnstein translates to "dry castle". The city is well known for both the castle and the wineries. The castle sits up on the cliff face above the town which is located approximately one hour from Vienna.

You'll find the pier right in the downtown area, making it an ideal and convenient for your stop in Durnstein.

When in Durnstein be sure to visit the local castle, sample some wine at the local vineyards (prized for some of their high-quality Rieslings) and delight in anything apricot; the local apricot liqueur Marillen, or an apricot pastry or three.

I’d love to help you book your first (or next) river cruise with a stop in Durnstein. DM or email us today to learn more about river cruising with AmaWaterways.
