Niagara Falls are a stunning display of mother
nature's beauty and force. The falls are actually comprised of three
waterfalls, the America Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls, and the Horseshoe Falls.
Horseshoe Falls is the largest of the three, with a vertical drop over 165-ft. Together, the three waterfalls produce the
highest flow rate of any waterfall on earth. Nearly 700,000-gallons of water travel down Niagra Falls every
second! For this reason, Niagara falls is also an important source of
hydroelectricity.
The falls are just a short drive from Toronto and straddle the border between Ontario, Canada, and New York, USA, but don't think you can cross the border so easily! You'll still need to present a valid passport and go through customs. In fact, in 2012, when Nik Wallenda crossed the Niagara Falls by tightrope, he was required to carry his passport and present it on entry to the Canadian side of the falls!
The Niagara Falls are truly magnificent, and their majestic beauty is a sight you won't soon forget. Viewing platforms and a ferry offer spectacular views of the falls at a safe distance.
