Corcovado Fun Facts

The Corcovado Mountain hovers over the lively Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. It was initially named Pinaculo da Tentacao, which translates to ‘Pinnacle of Temptation.' The name has references from the Bible and was chosen by the Portuguese settlers. Later on, its name was changed to Corcovado, which refers to its ‘hunchback' shape.

The Corcovado Mountain is located within the Tijuca Forest National Park, and it is 2,300 feet tall. However, this mountain is remarkable, not only because of its breathtaking beauty and critical positioning, but it also serves as the base of the globally recognized statue called Christ The Redeemer. This statue stands 100 feet high and shows Jesus Christ standing over the city of Rio de Janeiro.

It’s time to plan that trip to Brazil. Contact me today.
