Iguana Fun Facts

Although it is known as the green iguana, they can also be a bright orange hue, but more often than not, they are a shade of green. The females and the young are more brightly colored than males of the species. These iguanas have a parietal eye, which is a sense organ behind the head that helps their sex organs, thyroid gland, and an endocrine gland in the maturation process.

Green iguanas are only able to see shadows that are above them. There is a spiny crest that runs down the back and the tail that serves as protection against predators. South and Central America is the home for the green iguana. They can be tracked from Mexico down to Paraguay and Brazil.
