Ponte Vecchio

The Ponte Vecchio is the oldest bridge in Florence. In fact, Ponte Vecchio literally translates to "old bridge." The original bridge was built in 996 and was made from wood, but after fires and floods, the medieval stone bridge was constructed. Back in the day, the shops along the bridge used to be occupied by butchers, but today you will find jewelers and art dealers along the bridge's inner corridor.
