Fun Fact about Feta Cheese

Who doesn't love Feta? A cheese that must be produced in Greece with a name like "feta." "Feta" is a legal designation, like Champagne or Roquefort. Understandably, the term feta is coined from an ancient Greek word, meaning "slice." Feta cheese can be formed from either goat or sheep's milk, but most cheese lovers will say it is best made with sheep's milk. Feta is cured at least three months in brine, according to Greek law.

Brick Lane

The history of Brick Lane. Brick Lane runs from Bethnal Green and through Spitalfields down towards Whitechapel. The street was originally called Whitechapel Lane; it is thought that it was renamed because local earth was used by brick and tile manufacturers who set up shop in the street in the 15th century. Brick Lane in London’s East End is an epicenter of cultural diversity, the Curry Capital of the U.K., and a mecca for on-trend shopaholics. You’ll find a dizzying array of vintage shops, record stores, niche boutiques, street art, and nightlife catering to every taste as you navigate the area’s winding cobbled streets. Weekends on Brick Lane are a full-on affair and not for the faint-hearted (or severely hungover). Throngs descend on the Brick Lane Market to haggle over one-of-a-kind clothing and eat at a food market which boasts more cuisines than you can shake a stick at, while a few badass buskers playing live music hold crowds in their thrall. As well as countless curry houses, you’ll find Bengali foods on sale in the local shops and markets, and the street plays host to an annual Curry Festival with live entertainment laid on by the Tower Hamlets Council. It’s clear that these days Brick Lane is a melting pot of social groups, cultures and subcultures, all of whom come together to enjoy the U.K.’s favourite dish: the curry. I’d love to help you plan your trip to London so be sure to pick up the phone and call me or send me an email when you’re ready to start planning.

The words Santa and Irene (Saint Irene) also influenced the name Santorini. This came from the church in the valley of Therassia or the early Christian basilica in Perissa. Initially, the island was known as Kallístē, meaning "the most beautiful one" before it was called Santorini.

Don't Let Social Isolation Ruin Your Family/Friendships/Relationships

Hey Friends,

I know... social isolation is HARD!

Hopefully you're fully utilizing your cell phone services and social media apps to stay connected to your (family/friends). But in the wake of COVID-19, these times are proving that these methods are not enough to keep our (families/friendships) strong.

Start planning NOW is reconnect with your (family/friends)!

After the sudden loss of Kobe and Giana Bryant and now the impact that COVID-19 is having on the world, if there is one thing that we are learing, it's that we need to spend time with our family and friends and show them how much we love them.

You and your family need something positive and fun to look forward to after being in social isolation.

By waiting until the pandemic ends, you are allowing it win... to have control over your future and the future plans for you and your family. Besides, once this whole thing subsides, everyone is going to want to get out, and soon.

Wouldn't it be great if something was already in the works?!?!

What better way to get everyone together in one place, at one time, than during a (family/friends) getaway. You have to give yourself something to look forward to!

Plus, going on vacation together will allow you to recharge the batteries of our bond.

When planning your post-COVID-19 (friend/family) vacation, consider the following:

* Choose a date 7-12 months in the future. This will not only allow time for everything to get back to normal, but it will also give your (family/friends) time to take advantage of an awesome monthly payment plan!

* Choose a domestic location. By choosing a domestic location, your (family members/friends) may have more than one transportation mode to choose from (air, train, bus, or car.) Plus, after a worldwide pandemic, domestic travel may make everyone feel more secure.

* Choose a destination where every member of your (family/group) can find something that they like to do. It is important to take everyone's personal interest into account to make everyone feel valued.

* Plan activities that the group can enjoy together. Who knows when you'll be able to get everyone together again, so make the most of this time together.

Usually, life goes at such a fast pace that sometimes we are unable to keep up with those whom we love most.

Suddenly, life feels like it is at a stand-still and we are now physically distanced from those we love.

Planning a (family/group) vacation will give you a chance to physically reconnect with loved ones and spend quality time with them post-COVID-19.

Don't miss out on another opportunity to show (love/brotherhood/sisterhood).

Let me help you plan your post-COVID-19 group getaway!

Sincerely,

Jeane'

London New Years Eve Fireworks

The annual New Year's Eve Fireworks display, launched from the foot of the London Eye and from rafts on the Thames, is visible from most of central London: the basic rule is that if you can see the London Eye, you'll be able to see the show. They cram enough firepower for an hour-long display into ten explosive minutes, lighting up the sky for miles around. The best views are from Victoria Embankment, the South Bank, and Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge. Hungerford Bridge is closed after 8pm and there's also no entry to Westminster Bridge after this time. Watched by half a million people, in 2014 the organisers introduced ticketing for 100,000 in order to prevent overcrowding. Go to www.london.gov.uk for full details. I’d love to help you plan your trip to London so be sure to pick up the phone and call me or send me an email when you’re ready to start planning.

Christmas in London

Tudor houses were built during the Tudor era in England between 1485 – 1603 and they had a very distinctive black-and-white style appearance. The Tudor period is the time when the Tudor family came to the throne in England from 1485 – 1603. One of the most famous members of the Tudor family is King Henry VIII. There are still a large number of Tudor houses in the UK and some of them are more than 500 years old. On your visit to London (and around England if you have time) you’ll see a wide variety of architecture and design. Navagio Beach

Zakynthos is an island in the Ionian Sea. It's considered the third largest Ionian island. This little jagged piece of land is off the southwest coast of Greece. It has rocky coves, and in one of these hidden pieces of paradise is Navagio Beach, a sandy little strip that is unforgettable. Famous as "Shipwreck Beach" and "Smuggler's Cove," this beach became a mini ship graveyard in 1983 after the ship Panagiotis plowed into the shore. According to the local news, the ship was smuggling cigarettes, booze, and allegedly humans. The authorities caught onto their trail and chased it the boat in stormy weather, into the cove, where it ran ashore.
This story got you curious? I'd love to help you plan your trip, so be sure to pick up the phone and call me or send me an email when you're ready to start planning.

National Gallery

London has a great variety of world class museums and galleries. Most of the major venues also have free admission, although voluntary donations are 'encouraged' and special exhibitions often have an admission charge. If you are interested in the subject matter, many of these museums and galleries will take at least a day of your time. As many are so large, a good approach is to make several visits spread over your visit made possible by the free admission. Some of the museums also have late night openings. All have restaurants and most will have workshops and lectures available. And yes it’s true, there are so many museums in London that there are even museums for people who don’t like museums! I’d love to help you plan your trip to London so be sure to pick up the phone and call me or send me an email when you’re ready to start planning.

Columbia Road Market

A random yet highly fascinating fact about the British flag is that it’s missing Wales! Poor Wales. The flag is actually made up of the three flags of England, Scotland and Ireland which are the crosses of each country’s patron saint. England: Cross of St George – Red Cross, Scotland: Cross of St Andrew – White Saltaire, Ireland: Cross of St Patrick – Red Saltaire. Also, while pretty much everyone calls it the Union Jack, it’s technically called the Union Flag unless it’s being flown at sea. And finally, if you have an eye for detail, look very closely… If you look closely at the flag, you’ll notice that it’s actually not symmetrical in its shapes, which means that there is a proper way to display the flag. This little graphic should clarify how to properly display the flag.

Beautiful London Gardens

The earliest English gardens that we know of were planted by the Roman conquerors of Britain in the 1st century AD. It was not until the Middle Ages that gardens once more became important in British life. As castles gave way to fortified manor houses in the later medieval period, the garden became a simple green space surrounded by hedges or fences. Games such as bowls or tennis took place on the lawn. Gardening has always been a matter of personal taste, and often the outstanding works of previous generations are torn down to make way for the style of the next. For that reason it is hard to find unaltered examples of historical gardens in England. Yet, throughout Britain there are gardens great and small, formal and informal, private and public, that illustrate the British passion for creating green, growing spaces of their own. All are different, and all, like their owners and creators, have a distinct personality. So, whether or not you’re a gardening pro or kill everything you touch, be sure to stop and smell the English roses while you’re there. I’d love to help you plan your trip to London so pick up the phone and call me or shoot me an email!

Bus Around London

Without buses, London would fall. London is completely dependent on these red icons. In fact, Londoners use buses so extensively that more than half of all bus journeys across England are made in London. The red double decker has become a global icon, and along with their red pillar boxes, and red telephone boxes, is a constituent part of the Holy Trinity of the red things of Britain. Buses have been used on London’s streets since the early 1800s. One of the first public bus services was operated by an enterprising fellow named George Shillibeer, who began ferrying people about using his horse-drawn omnibus which he ran between Paddington and the City. His forward thinking idea caught on, and soon, London was bus town. On your trip to London be sure take at least one ride on the famous London red bus. Anytime of the Year

London (and England) is stunning at any time of year. Of course there are things that you can only see and do in certain seasons for example winter might be colder but the crowds are smaller, the lines shorter and the Christmas spirit is high. Summer of course allows you to swim, enjoy more of the outdoors and try different foods. No matter which season you choose to visit, the climate is relatively temperate and, in general, doesn't experience extremes during either summer or winter. Overall, spring (late March to early June) and autumn (September to November) are the best times to visit, when it's usually warm and dry. Before you start planning your trip to London be sure to call or email me. I’d love to help you to do exactly what you want to.

Greek Gods Fun Facts

Greece is famous for the Greek Gods and Goddesses. The ancient Greeks invented them due to their firm belief that the Gods existed. They believed that Greek Gods and Goddesses possess supernatural powers that can affect their lives. Beautiful temples were put up for each one. Since they have many gods and goddesses, there are a lot of temples sprawled all over ancient Greece.
The Gods even have myths created in their honor. The famous poem "The Theogony" was written by a Greek writer named Hesiod in 700 BC. It explains where the Greek Gods came from. Some of the Olympian Gods are Zeus, Hera, Hades, Ares, Athena, Aphrodite, and Poseidon.

Check Out The London Eye

Thinking of visiting the London Eye? I’ve dropped some tips for you below but of course the best tip of all is to contact me before you plan your trip to London. I can help you to maximize time and save money by doing things in the right order, at the right time, and on the right day. That’s why I’m a travel expert. There are actually 2 waiting lines: one to buy the ticket and another one for boarding. It’s possible to skip the first line by buying your ticket online. In any case, if you purchase a standard ticket you’re expected to arrive half an hour before the boarding time to get your pre-booked ticket and pass the boarding line. Among the available ticket options on the London Eye’s booking page you will find a fast-entry ticket (priority line) and flexible tickets, but, of course, they’ll cost you more.

White Buildings and Blue Roofs

A lot of people believe the blue-and-white buildings are representative of Greek architecture, but this trend is much more common in the Cycladic Islands than anywhere else. Some believe it pertains to the superstition that blue wards off evil. Another possibility is that it came through orders of Ioannis Metaxas, former military general, and dictator. In the 1930s, Metaxas forced the use of lime, a local product with anti-bacterial properties, to whitewash the buildings in the hopes of fighting the epidemics that were rampant in the islands. The use of lime had two significant advantages, stopping infections and providing insulation from the sun, which prevented the houses from getting too warm.

Let's Talk Flights to London

How long does it actually take to get to London? Great question! And I’ve got some answers for you. Let’s talk flights. The flight time from New York to London is about 7.5 hours. The return flight time from London to New York is about 8.5 hours. The flight time from the west coast, specifically Los Angeles is approximately 11.5 hours, and 10 hours from Vancouver. In general, flights from Europe to the US take longer than flights from the US to Europe due to differences in tailwinds and headwinds. Supersonic planes once only took 3.5 hours to cross the pond but since the end of the Concorde era there have been no more. We hope to see them again soon though! Imagine deciding to go to London at lunch time and being there by dinner! So no matter where you’re flying from, be sure to reach out to me today by phone or email to discuss your trip to London.

Most Interesting Churches in Greece

Greece has some of the most interesting architecture, especially showcased in its churches. You can find beautifully detailed churches peeking through the hills, in secluded spots among green landscapes, in the middle of large squares, and amidst the picturesque quarters. Orthodox churches are presented by their distinct dome-shaped architecture and the well-decorated interiors with spectacular frescoes and holy icons. Each one will lure you with its charm and character.
The style and design depend on the construction period and the region of Greece. For example, the churches found in the Cyclades Islands are whitewashed with blue painted domes, while churches in other areas are decorated with earthy hues. The Venetian and Renaissance periods heavily influence the churches located in the Ionian Islands while the mainland churches date back from the Byzantine times.
You'd have a grand time exploring Greece! I'd love to help you plan your trip, so be sure to pick up the phone and call me or send me an email.

Thirst Quenching Summery Drink in England

A thirst-quenching, supremely summery drink (in England, it's a must at cricket matches), Pimm's Cup mixes lemony soda (or ginger ale), fruit, cucumbers, mint, and a fortifying shot of gin. Pimm's No. 1, a gin-based drink, was invented in 1823 by James Pimm, who served it at his oyster bar in London. If you’re visiting London in the summer be sure to grab a glass, even if you think you won’t like it (I’m pretty sure you will) because traveling is all about trying new things. Now if you’re traveling in the winter I definitely suggest trying the British mulled wine. Be careful with both drinks though - they are sweet and go down like candy flavored water! The London Underground

The London Underground is one of the best and most comprehensive transport networks in the world with around 24 million journeys made each day, so it’s important that everything runs smoothly to avoid delays. Check out these top London travel tips to learn what to expect when you arrive and how to use the Tube like a Londoner.
1. Keep right on escalator - London Underground asks that you stand on the right when using the escalators and leave the left free for others to walk down. If you’re travelling in a big group, or with lots of shopping bags, stand and stay right and let others pass you – it will speed up the process and be a more pleasant journey for everyone!
2. Remember the ‘rush hour’ - The tube network is very busy during ‘rush hour’ with commuters moving around the city. You can expect the trains and stations to be overcrowded between 07:30 and 09:30 in the morning and between 17:00 and 19:00 in the evening.
3. Have your ticket ready at the barrier - Sometimes there can be a bit of a bottle neck at ticket barriers, especially before 9:30am and around 6pm during the rush hours. Make sure you have your ticket ready at the barrier so you can move in and out of the station smoothly.

Greek Diet - Flavorful and Healthy

Have you ever heard of the Greek Diet? It includes the twelve central "Pillar Foods," olive oil, yogurt, vegetables, beans, seafood, whole grains, wine, fruit, herbs and spices, coffee and tea, nuts, and seeds and chicken and eggs. This diet emulates a Mediterranean style of eating to help you quickly and healthily lose the extra weight. The Greek way of eating has been commended for its positive effects on your heart. Research has explained that the advantages of reducing diabetes and improving cognitive function (due to foods rich in omega-3) come with eating olives. They also found that they enhance fat-burning, heighten satiety, reduce the risk of disease, and create an overall more delightful culinary experience.
Greece will give you the health boost you need! I'd love to help you plan your trip, so be sure to call me or send me an email when you're ready to start planning.

Fun Facts About London Guards

Fun facts about those picture perfect guards in London…. The guards at Buckingham Palace and St James Palace are on duty for 24 or 48 hours. In 2018, from August to May, the ceremony takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. In June and July 2018, the ceremony occurs 7 days a week, though it is highly recommended that you check the schedule for any exceptions. Officially, the Changing begins at 11:00. However, Guards begin to leave the Royal Barracks and St. James Palace by 10:30. The Changing will not take place in bad weather. If it is raining, chances are there will be no ceremony. If the weather is a bit changeable, police officers stationed around Buckingham Palace and the Victoria Memorial can be approached and asked if the Changing is going to be canceled. BUT with all that helpful information there for you, I definitely recommend reaching out to us before you plan your trip to London. I’ll make sure you have accurate information and organized to maximize your time. So contact me today and let’s chat about your trip to London!

Lisbon, The Dream Destination That Has It All

Is it on your bucket list? Why?
When most people decide to take an amazing trip to Europe, they think of visiting Athens, London, or Madrid. One of the places that seem to fly under the radar is Lisbon, Portugal. It is the perfect place for a summer trip for reasons that you likely never even knew.
Lisbon is the capital of Portugal; it has so many things to offer visitors. Here are five reasons why you need to add Lisbon to your list of dream destinations.
The Sun
When most people think of sunny European destinations, places like Athens, Rome, or Barcelona come to mind. Lisbon is the last place that people consider, although it should be the first. Lisbon averages 2,799 hours of sun a year, which makes it the sunniest European cities. The excellent beaches that are located about 30 minutes from the city center are the perfect place to enjoy this sunshine.
Lisbon's Age
Lisbon is one of the earliest capital cities in the world. It is older than more famous capitals like Rome or Paris by hundreds of years. This age is shown in its architecture, museums, and sites to see around the city. It is home to the oldest book store in the world, Bertrand, as it holds the Guinness Book record as the oldest. There is the old tram system that still runs along the cobblestone streets and the place that it holds in history during the Age of Discovery in the 15th and 16th centuries (which Lisbon is incredibly proud of).
The Food And Spirits
From the amazing port wines (which is the national drink of Portugal) to the sausages to the custard tarts, the food and beverages of Portugal are amazing. There are fantastic cafes and restaurants throughout the city that serve traditional fares and modern world-class cuisine. Step out to the open-air markets in the town for on the go street foods.
Art
Graffiti is considered to be an eyesore, but Lisbon has turned the idea of graffiti into something to be enjoyed by all. Street art is something that Lisbon has come to embrace, so much so that there are even street art tours throughout the city. There are murals scattered all over Lisbon, and one of the places visitors should go to see some amazing examples of street art is the Calcada da Gloria.
The View
Built across seven separate hills contributes to the cities stunning views and landscapes everywhere. Lisbon is a city that is just pretty to admire. View a mix of old and new from many different points in the city. There is something new to see atop every hill and corner.
Lisbon is a place that is a world-class capital that most people don't even consider visiting. It is old, artsy, modern, and steep in history. There is something for everyone in Lisbon. From the beaches to the cobblestone streets, world-class restaurants to street art murals, Lisbon is a thriving capital that seems to be one of the un-hidden gems of Europe.

Times Like This Are What I'm Here For

Hey Everyone,

Of course I'm here to help you plan and execute amazing vacations without incident. But when hick-ups occur, I'm also here to see you through them.

I'm sure you've heard the many stories on the news about recent travelers having to stand in long lines, waiting to make flight changes, or holding for hours to re-book upcoming vacations. That is expected in this do-it-yourself (DIY) age where many take on the challenge of planning their own getaways. And until now, there may have been no problems. Then, comes COVID-19.

They wait in long lines... or hold on the phone for hours only to be redirected to the online booking 'giant' that was used to make their reservation. How frustrating and stressful.

When working with me, a simple phone call or email is all that's needed to get the process started.

And instead of waiting, stressed-out in a line with other stressed-out travelers, or exhausting the battery on your cell phone when everyone else is too, it's my job to miraculously take care of everything for you on the back-end while you relax.

Thank goodness these kinds of mishaps don't happen too often, but if and when they do, I'll be here for YOU!

Times like this are what I'm here for.

Stay safe.

Italian Leather

If you love leather, learn why the Italian one is the best for durable and elegant bags, belts or watch bands. It depends on the quality of the processing techniques: top grain and full grain. But it also refers to the quality of the base product: vegetable tanned Italian leather.

Vegetable tanned leather lasts much longer than chrome tanned leather. The reason why vegetable tanned leather is more expensive than chrome tanned leather is that it takes longer time to make. The natural chemicals are not as effective as the heavy metals, thus taking longer time.

A longer process means a more expensive product. It is highly priced leather used for a wide range of different goods: bags, wallets, shoes, watch bands, even car interiors. Italian leather is highly regarded in fashion and design for the beauty of its nuances and its long-lasting strength. It is made of cowhide but this is just the first step. To obtain the best Italian leather special traditional techniques are used.

Different types of treatments and different parts of the hide result in a great quality product. If you want to bring home the perfect souvenir, why not buy italian leather products?

I guarantee you wont regret it! I’d love to help you plan your trip to Rome so be sure to pick up the phone and call me or send me an email.

What is the Arc de Triomphe?

The Arc de Triomphe Paris, the most monumental of all triumphal arches, was built between 1806 and 1836. The Arch still retains the essence of the original concept which was a powerful, unified ensemble.  The Arc de Triomphe stands at the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle, also known as the "Place de l'Étoile". It’s located at the western end of the Champs-Élysées. The triumphal arch is in honor of those who fought for France, in particular, those who fought during the Napoleonic Wars. Engraved on the inside and at the top of the arch are all of the names of the generals and wars fought. This is a very historical site you wouldn't want to miss! When you’re ready to visit Paris, I’d love to help you plan your trip to Paris so be sure to pick up the phone and call me or send me an email.

Tiramisu

Feeling a bit down, a bit lethargic, a bit dreary? What you need is a little bit (or a lot) of tiramisu, the classic Italian dessert. Though you might not need an excuse to eat it, pronounced tira-mi-su means “pick-me-up” and is a perfect end to a meal or even a post sightseeing snack. What better medicine could there be? Its current name derives from the Venetian dialect and is now considered a typical dessert of this region, but other regions are competing to be proclaimed place of origin of this cake: first of all, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Piedmont and Tuscany. The classic tiramisu is made with savoiardi or lady fingers or biscuits, take your pick of the words, dunked in an espresso coffee, then layered with a mascarpone and fresh egg custard and sprinkled with chocolate powder. When eating out, be sure to check it’s ‘fatto in casa’, or made in house. I’d love to help you find the best tiramisu in town! When you’re ready to plan your trip to Rome so be sure to pick up the phone and call me or send me an email.

Catacombs of Paris

Paris, the capital of France, is often called La Ville Lumière (meaning ‘The City of Light’), however, beneath this bustling European city of 12 million people, lies a dark subterranean world holding the remains of 6 million of its former inhabitants. However, only around one mile of this area is open for public exploration. The rest is deemed to be unsafe, and hence, is illegal to visit. Visitors are first greeted with a sign at the entrance of the ossuary, which reads 'Stop. This is the empire of death. If you are looking for a thrill in your trip, this is the perfect match for you! I’d love to help you plan your trip to Paris so be sure to pick up the phone and call me or send me an email.

Why Romans Drive Scooters

In Rome, scooters are a part of the culture, as familiar as pizza and gelato. A lot of people use them in cities because the traffic is so awful. Roman motorini often swerve into oncoming traffic to beat slower moving vehicles.  Moped drivers see red lights as more of a suggestion than a rule, and believe crosswalks and sidewalks are just as well suited for scooters as they are for pedestrians. Looking for a designated scooter lane? Any space between two cars is fair game. Rome ranks among the cities with the most registered scooters in the world.  With congested traffic and little parking, it’s no wonder that the motorino has found such a devoted following in the Eternal City. Now, Romans don’t even need their own bikes to start scootering: They can get on the back of someone else’s. A new service, called Scooterino, matches riders with spare back seats with people going in the same direction. Want an authentic trip around the city?  I’d love to help you plan your trip to Rome so be sure to pick up the phone and call me or send me an email.
