The Famous Little Mermaid Statue

Perched on a rock by the water, looking longingly out to see is a bronze statue of the Little Mermaid. Given to the city as a gift in 1913 by Danish brewer Carl Jacobsen, the statue has become a beloved symbol of the city. She was inspired by the Danish ballet dancer, Ellen Prince, after Jacobson saw her perform in the Royal Ballet's rendition of the Little Mermaid.
