Churrasco

Churrasco originated in the southern region of Brazil in the 1800s. It's the traditional cuisine of the gauchos - South American cowboys. Presently, it's a way of life and deeply rooted in Brazilian culture. The churrasco-style of grilling brings out the authentic flavors of the meat. It's the reason why Brazilian gauchos were motivated to find ways to roast the meat without smoking it because the smoking process can remove the natural taste of the meat.

The most common process of making churrasco is to slowly roast skewers of meat over an open-flamed charcoal bed until the outer layers form a well-crusted sear. When the outer layer is fully cooked, the Gauchos happily serve the skewers to their family and friends.

I'd love to help you plan your trip so that you can experience an authentic Gaucho cookout. Contact me today so we can get the ball rolling.

Iguana Fun Facts

Although it is known as the green iguana, they can also be a bright orange hue, but more often than not, they are a shade of green. The females and the young are more brightly colored than males of the species. These iguanas have a parietal eye, which is a sense organ behind the head that helps their sex organs, thyroid gland, and an endocrine gland in the maturation process.

Green iguanas are only able to see shadows that are above them. There is a spiny crest that runs down the back and the tail that serves as protection against predators. South and Central America is the home for the green iguana. They can be tracked from Mexico down to Paraguay and Brazil.

The same falls divide the river with the same name into two: the upper and lower portions.  This fact created myths and legends as to their origin. This river serves as the boundary between Brazil and Argentina, making it an essential part of the political and geographical structure on the continent of South America.

Brazilian Culture of Music and Dance

There's always some blurred lines when we talk about traditional music in Brazil; between rural and urban; between indigenous, Luso-Hispanic, and African; and between conventional art and popular music. It's the same mix of varied cultures and amalgam of different musical practices that produced such a variety of music, most of all samba, that ascended to embody modern Brazil.

As time passed, the three strands of indigenous, Luso-Hispanic, and African song, music and dance traditions began to mix. They created a harmonious blend of cultures that gave birth to samba (not to be confused with the US ballroom dance, which draws only modest influences from the Brazilian genre).

Music lovers everywhere can find joy in the music of Brazil. Let me help you get there so you can explore that musical tradition of this colorful land.

Sugarloaf Mountain is open year-round, but be sure to plan because the lines can get very long as it's one of the most popular spots in Rio. Samba

The African people brought the Samba dance with them to Brazil in the 19th century. Its fast rhythmic steps characterize it, and a swaying, rocking motion of the dancers made to vibrant beats. This dance is mostly performed in 2/4 time, but it can also be done in three steps to create a 3/4 rhythm.

The Samba dance is teeming with African beats and rhythms, and, over the decades, Latin cultures have made their mark on Samba music and dance. The dance surpasses color and social class and is a unifying element in Brazil. It's a prominent attraction in Carnival celebrations in Rio and is seen throughout the year in ballrooms and clubs everywhere.

Wildlife You'll See In Brazil

Brazil is considered to be the most biodiverse country in the world, due partly because of its sheer size and diverse ecosystems. The world's largest rainforest is found here along with the Amazon and Pantanal (the world's largest tropical wetland).

Together with what's left of the Atlantic rainforest, these ecosystems maintain a surprising abundance and diversity of wildlife. In the ecosystem, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, mammals, and fungal species thrive. Below are ten animals visitors will get the chance to see in Brazil.

 Toco toucan

Anteater

Three-toed sloth

Piranha

Capybara

Armadillo

Yacara caiman

Poison dart frog

Golden lion tamarin

Jaguar

Mother nature is a wonderful thing, and I want to help you get to Brazil and enjoy all she has to offer.

Brazil is both for the Budget Friendly and Luxury Traveler

Brazil might be the perfect destination for your next adventure because it's home to some of South America's most fabulous parties, stunning beaches, and some mother natures awe-inspiring features. But if you're a budget traveler, what will be the repercussions? On the flip side, what's available to visitors who want a 5-star experience?

Fear no more, while Brazil has historically ranked as home to some of the most expensive cities in the world, the country is now much more accessible to travelers with all sorts of budgets.

I understand my clients and how to help them create the trip they want and can afford. Call me or email me today so we can get started.

Exploring the Amazon River

It's been twenty years since the Pantanal wetlands replaced the Amazon as the top wildlife adventure in Brazil. The Amazonian region, however, is still one of the best regions to visit in Brazil, whether on a cruise ship or a traditional riverboat. Once upstream, the most popular areas for wildlife watching are from Manaus up the Rio Negro or to head farther upriver to Tefé to stay at the exquisitely delightful Uakari floating lodge.

Wildlife and ecosystem highlights of this region include pink dolphins, piranha fishing, the Rio Negro's freshwater archipelago, caiman-spotting at night, flooded forests, pink-faced uakari monkeys, and tarantulas.

A wildlife trip like this is once in a lifetime, and I would love to help you make this dream a reality.
